There is something relatively terrifying and totally exhilarating about the prospect of writing a blog for the first time with total and utter commitment. It feels a bit like making the decision to skydive for the first time with total bravery and excitement and then realizing, about 4.2 seconds before you’re about to be shoved out of the door by the person strapped to your back, that this is terrifying! But you told everyone you were going to do it so AHHHH!!! So in the spirit of jumping out of a plane, “1, 2, threeaaaaahhh!!!”
WELCOME TO THE HAPPY VENTURE!!
The journey of 1000 miles starts with taking the first step, or in this case, a total leap of faith! It is exhilarating and a bit terrifying (as I mentioned) but similarly, with a leap of faith, I have well…faith. I have faith that hopefully at least 1 or 2 people will find my self deprecating total honesty refreshing and comforting. I fully expect people to laugh and cry (probably me) through this process. Most importantly my goal is to inspire people through my own wild ride examples and through sharing the stories of some amazing souls I’ve met and have not yet met along the way. We all want to be happy in life and my own personal pursuit of happiness is what I plan to share on these humble pages.
Here’s what I can promise you if you stick around.
1. It ain’t gonna be all roses and sunshine.
Life is messy and mine up to this point has been a cross between a mud wrestling match in hell and “Leave It To Beaver”. I’ve had depression and more recently I’ve had consistently happy years as a healer, wife and mother. I have reached a very happy place but it was a rocky muddy hellish road at times too. I plan to share it all. Why? I do it out of love. You are not alone no matter what stage your life is in and sometimes people have to share their story to help others and quite frankly themselves to heal. I hope you stick around for the mud because this lotus came out of it and I’m all the better for it.
2. Stories of beautiful people…all kinds.
I am a story gatherer. I have always been fascinated by the lives of other people. What does the world look like from their point of view? What can I learn from their experiences and how can it help me to heal and to help bring more understanding and compassion to the world. The people of the world come in all textures that have been woven by their experiences. My goal is to gather and share their stories, their point of view, and my own reflections upon meeting them. I hope this will make you ask “How am I changed by the people I come into contact with?” This is Compassion.
3. The Richness of Life.
There is so much. So much fill in the blank, fill in the blank, & fill in the blank. Seriously. Pick 3 adjectives and let me know what you’re interested in. Mine are Beauty, Love, and Suffering. This begins to show the scope of what I’m going to cover but there is an infinite amount of topics.
4. Different points of view.
How many points of view are there? Want a number? 7.48 Billion. That’s the number of people on the planet. It is a never ending story but each point of view is a unique perspective. It’s a daunting prospect and no wonder the world is at war with itself. Try to get 5 people to agree on a movie to see much less agree on the issues of the day. We don’t have to agree completely. It is ok to disagree as long as we can be empathetic with one another. All I ask is that you try to keep an open mind. That’s my plan. And in this day and age of United States politics…Ohh man it will be a full time spiritual practice. God help us! LOL (jk?)
PS. Politics will not be a favorite topic…I’ll leave that outside my digital doorstep…as much as possible.
5. Beauty & Inspiration
At the end of the day my goal is to inspire you with the 100% Real-ity of life. It is crazy and gritty but joyous and beautiful. There is Love all around us. There is beauty, courage, and/or hope everywhere. There is strength. I hope to be all those things and show those things that I am not. I know that I will not and cannot be all things to all 7.48 billion. If I have succeeded in helping just one person, then I have succeeded.
I hope you’ll join me on the journey. Thank you for reading this far.
Bright Blessings,
Melissa P.
Do You Self Care?
As an avid reader of self improvement I am well versed in productivity habits, spiritual practices, and decluttering. As a massage therapist I knew the effects of stress on the human body. I have said to my own clients, “Self care is the most important thing you can do for stress. Take time for yourself and you’ll be refreshed and relaxed for all the other areas of your life.” As a new mother however, I needed to hear this reminder.
1 Step One Breath 1 Day at a Time
1 Step One Breath 1 Day at a Time. The road to “‘here” has either been long or short. If you’ve stayed in one place choosing never to learn grow and evolve, your road has been short. If you have chosen to never learn, heal the reasons you are judgmental or critical of...
Coming Out of the Closet
May 11, 2017 Last Thursday I had the amazing experience of connecting one-on-one with Davidji on Hay House Radio. I called and he answered! I was lucky enough to talk to him on air. His show is a bright spot on Thursdays. This quote couldn’t have come at a more...
Falling off the rails
A few weeks ago I had a realization. After 3 weeks of being sick and one week of recovering from 2 different types of illness I came to the firm realization that I had fallen off the rails. …for basically a month! Oh boy. When I came out of it, not only did I have a...
